From Transactional to Transformational: Finding Joy in Generosity
What a week it’s been. Apocalyptic messages. Fights with the Pope. A freaky messianic meme. Oh! And to top it all off – it’s Tax Day! The fun never ceases.
Never fear…fun you shall have. Hear me out.
If you reframe how you view stewardship, generosity, and money, your ability to talk about those three things will become one of joy, not burden. It will be fun. Trust me, I’ve seen it with my own eyes.
My Horizons Stewardship colleague and friend, Rev. Erica Allen, recently came up with a way to reframe generosity by looking at it through two very different lenses: transactional versus transformational.
How does this work? Here’s how my friend, Erica, describes it:

By reframing how you look at stewardship, generosity, and money, you can find joy. People are looking for happiness in days that feel dark and hard. What a gift it is to be able to give it to them.
